» North Texas Swimming Starters Clinic

Any Stroke and Turn Officials interested in a Starters clinic should email Bob Lang at blang@leedmicro.com indicating interest. Certification as a Stroke and Turn official for at least one year is required for consideration to be certified as a Starter, but you may take this clinic prior to your one year anniversary with consideration deferred. All respondents will be contacted once headcounts, date, and location are determined. Include your questions when you email Bob. His plan is to hold the clinic before the long course season begins.

» 2010 US Paralympics Can-Am Nationals and Application to Officiate

The US Paralympics Can-Am Spring Nationals are in San Antonio March 25-27. The meet host is requesting help from officials. Any questions/concerns, please contact Glenda Orth [glenda.orth@comcast.net]. Training for disability swimming will be before each session, no disability officiating experience is required. It is an N2/N3 qualifying meet for USAS competition.

» Legends of Texas Coach Clinic

The Legends of Texas is coming to the Metroplex April 8-11. It will be held on the TCU campus in Fort Worth. This has finally made the rotation to our area. Lets make sure we support it. This is a great opportunity to encourage discussion and action within your staff and team. If you have ties to High School or summer league, you could pass this onto them also.

As we get close to championship season, there has been some question about Fast Skin II's and related suits. Gloria Schuldt sent a note to USA swimming about suits that are on the approved suit but are not full textile material. Please read the response from Bruce Stratton of USA Swimming...

All coaches, parents, swimmers, officials should be aware of rules for approved swimwear worn in any USA Swimming sanctioned or approved competition, or for any observed swim. Please refer to the USA Swimming website for the most current information.

Traci Johnson will be the acting Treasurer effective immediately. Until this change can be reflected on documents provided on our website, please submit ANY payments to North Texas Swimming (including splash fees, equipment rental fees, registrations) to Karen Rourke at her address listed on the Administration webpage.
